Scientists’ expecting more big earthquakes over the World as was near Japan at March 2011. The climate is changing according to other studies. What can be deduced from this is there will be more storms, tornados and forest fires.
What Disaster Preparedness means? And why is this the right time to be prepared more than ever. Earthquakes, wildfires, fires, flood, hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis and thunderstorms and winter storms – that’s all natural disasters.

I know what risks are in my area and town. Even if I travel somewhere, one of the first think is that I make research about occurring hazards in that location. If I know what hazards are, I know how to protect me and my family. Yes, I can have to rely on police or rescue workers, but it can take hours or even days when they come to help us. No matter if I live in city or countryside.

The best way how to be prepared for disasters is to be trained for that. This is the time when you learn an useful information’s and you’ll be ready to take the action when the disaster strike. I never rely on TV’s or radio. Yes, they probably inform people about the disaster, but who will take the action? It will be me and you, but only If you are prepared fot these critical situation. First Disaster Preparedness Steps
The basic supply kit and the plan to protect my family is the same for all types of hazards. But every natural disaster is unique so the decisions will be different during each emergency.
First of all what I want is to stay connect with the outside world. It is good to have one additional mobile phone’s battery, because if all plans fail, the connection to others may be the last hope. And nobody wants to be in that situation with dead mobile’s battery.
I familiarized all my family members where the supply kit is. We also have agreed a second rescue place if the home is unsafe. This includes my kids as well and they are prepared enough to rescue themselves without my help. I wrote about emergency essentials before, but let’s get look closer at the plan of preparedness.
Disaster preparedness means be ready for any natural disaster. Now we know that the connection with the outside world is very important, we have ready supply kit and all family members are teaches about the rescue and kit location. So now I’ll tell you what to do if…
Earthquake hit
There is usually no time to execute any bigger emergency plan during the earthquake. Make sure you are in the right place and position when it hits. Just Drop on the ground, Cover yourself and Hold on. Stay away from the windows or any unstated objects which can fall at you.

Fire
When the fire alarm starts or you’ll see a fire, stay calm. Find the nearest fire exit rout and get out of the building. If there is a lot of smoke, drop on the floor and crawl. Also the closed doors can be dangerous.
Every time when you want to open the closed door and you aren’t sure there is fire behind it, try the door’s temperature by your hand before you open it. If you are unsure, never open it!
